Carlos de Abreu, fundador y director ejecutivo del evento, dijo a The Hollywood Reporter, "Con 'Moneyball', Bennett Miller nos ha dado una hermosa película, a partir de un libro que muchos decían que no se podía adaptar al cine, y estamos encantados con honrarle. Con "Capote" hizo un debut magistral, y con "Moneyball" demuestra que tiene un verdadero don para dar vida a materiales complejos. "
Entre los ganadores anteriores del premio se encuentran Norman Jewison, John Schlesinger, John Frankenheimer, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Michael Mann, Sam Mendes, de Oliver Stone, Marc Forster, Clint Eastwood, Kathryn Bigelow y Tom Hooper. Estos dos últimos ganaron meses después el Oscar.
Tras la concesión de este premio, ya sólo queda conocer qué cinta de las diez nominadas logrará el galardón al mejor film del año. El ganador lo conoceremos el próximo 24 de octubre.

No esperaba una victoria por parte de Miller.
Pues al final los prmeios importantes muy Hollywood, Michele Williams haciendo un personaje mítico de Hollywood, Clooney es la imagen de Hollywood, Moneyball lo mismo y película una franquicia cinematografica.
